Huon Regional Care have advised us the Tasmanian Health Service has put in place some staffing requirements to ensure compliance with the rural health beds at all their sites, and they're now required to have an Enrolled Nurse and a Registered Nurse on every shift in each facility.
HRC said there'll be no changes at the Franklin facility but there would be changes at the two smaller sites at Dover and Franklin, and they also guaranteed they will honour current contracts.
Some of the options available for affected Extended Care Assistants who work afternoons and nights at the smaller facilities is redeployment to another facility into alternative shifts or a move into the home care space.
In addition, HRC are also offering the opportunity for suitable ECAs to upskill and undertake training in the Enrolled Nursing Program as part of these changes, and this will be funded by HRC.
If you are one of the affected employees or require assistance meeting with management please contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032.
