Congratulations on standing up against Healthscope and their oppressive management. The actions that you’re taking part in are important – they remind the bosses sitting in their comfy offices in St Kilda that workers have had enough and that you want to be treated with respect and fairness in your bargaining process.
Don’t be fooled by management telling you that they’re offering you all of these additional benefits, when they’d have to do that anyway just to get your agreement through Fair Work. The community are on your side and want to see you get a fair deal. That’s why we’re continuing with the protected industrial action and are implementing phase 2 of your bans.
From 7am on Thursday 22 December, you can take part in all of the previous bans as well as:
• Stop vacuuming foyer areas and management offices
• Stop catering for doctors’ and surgeons’ lunches
• Stop completing theatre setups
After discussions with your delegates and bargaining team, we’ve also organised a stop work action on Thursday 22 December from 1.30–2pm outside the HPH.
This stop work action is crucial as it sends a clear message that you, as HACSU members, are powerful and won’t stand for being mistreated by your employer any longer.
We’ll see you in your meal rooms next week to give you more details about the industrial action and to talk to you about the other bans.
If any of your colleagues are not yet HACSU members, now is their chance to join the union for health care workers and fight for a fair deal for everyone.
