The email was about progressing bargaining for the new staff agreement and also talked about a rostering review… if that sounds familiar it’s because we’ve been here before.
Long story short, the previous proposed agreement was voted up overwhelmingly, Fair Work said Anglicare must change some things to get their approval, Anglicare said they couldn’t, so Fair Work said no.
Late last year we said it must be sorted out so Anglicare said they’d take the agreement that was voted up, make the changes Fair Work wanted and lock it in.
Now Anglicare have changed their tune and want a couple of big changes and have thrown a roster review into the mix, but for the review to happen it seems they want to change conditions to make them worse than those previously agreed to, in particular the minimum engagement for shifts, how shifts work and can be scheduled across the day and the span of hours you can be rostered for.
The proposals are light on detail but it’s a real worry and, based on what we know, it seems the original plan is still best - take the agreement that got voted up, make Fair Work’s changes and just get it done, but it seems Anglicare don’t want to do that anymore.
