As part of negotiations for various public sector agreements there was an arrangement between the parties for a review of fixed term employment across the state service.
For allied health professionals, health service officers, nurses or midwives the following criteria for conversion applies:
Last week, we received advice from the department that was confusing – we were told there are less than 10 allied health professionals and health service officers who meet the criteria to be converted to permanent and roughly 30 nurses and midwives.
Today we met with the department and were glad to hear that these numbers do not include workers back filling a position or other circumstances.
While the agreement only applies to workers in the groups outlined above, we’re keen to hear from members who meet the criteria and are employed in THS or the Department of Health, so please contact HACSUassist so we can add you to the register of fixed term workers and keep you fully informed as the review unfolds.
