We’re not happy with this outcome at all

Following our most recent email advising of the current wages negotiations with the State Government, a meeting has been scheduled with the government this afternoon to talk further.

In terms of the wages, the government has advised that the general offer made to all public sector workers will apply to you as well.

For the majority of Dental Officers then, the wages offer will be 3.25% this year, 3% next year and 3% the following year. Depending on where you sit in the DO classification structure, a one-off payment (less tax) of either $1500 or $1000 (pro-rata) may also apply. The pro-rata payments have been presented to us as a cost-of-living increase.

Last night we got the employer’s response to your claims. There are two documents. The first is management’s log of claims, and the second is the management’s response to our log of claims.

It would be fair to say that when you read both documents, the response is underwhelming. With respect to claims that are specific to Dental Officers, the significant majority have been rejected. We’re not happy with this outcome at all.

We will provide you with a further update following the meeting with the government.
