the less we know.

Yesterday we met again with officials from various agencies to discuss arrangements relating to the announcement to abolish the Department of Communities Tasmania and disperse several functions across other state government agencies. We remain strongly opposed to the move but will work through the process with the agencies if the government insists on this fools’ errand.

Change proposals have been provided for some areas including Sport and Recreation, the Silverdome, Corporate Services and the Office of The Secretary- but some vital information is missing, and we need more time to provide feedback that then needs to be considered. We’re also concerned about who manages the transition if Corporate Services is one of the first areas to be split and dispersed.

We know you have serious concerns about your job and the effect this change will have on the people you provide services to, and we’ll keep you updated as further information becomes available. We’re deeply concerned about the haste and timeframes established, and we need to get together with you to talk about all of this, so keep your eye out for info about meetings in your work area. We look forward to seeing you at membership meetings soon.
