We’ve been in worksites over the last week holding urgent membership meetings and we’ve heard what you’ve said about the extreme crisis your services are in. The meetings around Tasmania were well attended and everyone’s clearly fed up with the lack of info around the changes, the disregard given to your service delivery concerns and the non-existent consultation by the government.
Members unanimously endorsed a resolution calling upon HACSU to convey their concerns to the government and to highlight that you are the ones with unsustainable workloads and it’s you who gets criticised when services fail… but it’s not your fault… it’s because of the inaction of successive governments.
You also called on the government to immediately begin a proper consultative process to discuss the real issues facing your services and what can and should be done to fix them.
The statewide meetings authorised future stop work meetings and we’ll organise these with your delegates in the next couple of weeks. These will consider the feedback from the government and determine what action, if necessary, needs to be taken to gain the government’s acceptance of your request.
We’ll be doing site visits in all regions over the following week so keep an eye out for more info or a visiting organiser. We all must stand together to ensure the most disadvantaged in our communities are protected.
