Now you’ll get paid

After pressuring the government for months, we finally made them agree to changes we’ve sought for COVID positive workers who can’t work from home.

Now if you get COVID but you aren’t ill and are otherwise ready, willing and able to work, you will get paid. This change is effective as of 3 February.

This means that frontline workers who can’t work from home because of the nature of their work won’t be forced to take leave from now on.

Importantly, you will continue to get paid as if you were still at work, so loading and allowances are included.

This is a crucial step forward in ensuring workers aren't disadvantaged because of their frontline role.

Well done for sticking together and winning change! If you have any questions, let us know by contacting HACSUassist.
