We met with Corumbene management last week to bargain for the new staff agreement, but not a lot came out of it as they're intent on bargaining for the nurses agreement first and leaving the non-nursing agreement to last.
Both unions agreed it’s not necessary to do them separately, and our preference is to negotiate them concurrently, something that's common practice.
We told Corumbene the wage offer of 1.75% was totally unacceptable and improvements need to be made, and they said they'll have something in writing for us - we expect to see that in a couple of weeks.
We’ll press on and continue with the bargaining process, which will probably be done via Zoom meetings, maybe with some done in-person depending on the COVID-19 situation in the future.
We're meeting again on 15 July and will report back to members with any outcomes.
