Rosters, shift penalties & uniforms.

HACSU has been negotiating with new DON Rob Suthers around rosters, shift penalties and the uniform policy, so we wanted to let members know where we’re at.

Rosters

The recently imposed request roster for MSDs and catering staff has been scrapped and will be replaced by a fixed roster similar to the one that existed before.

Shift penalties

We’ve ironed out the uncertainty around shift penalties for mixed function shifts and short notice of shift changes. If your shifts are changed at short notice, you’ll be paid overtime rates for that whole unexpected shift. If you’re asked to do someone else’s job (classified at a higher rate) for two or more hours of your shift, you’ll be paid for your whole shift at the higher rate.

Uniform policy

We’re still working through the problems created by the rollout of the new uniform policy with your Director Fiona Young. You’re not alone in this as several sites are experiencing the same issues. We’ve asked for you to be given appropriate uniforms and we’ll keep you up to date when we hear back.

Kristen is back

Finally, your previous organiser Kristen Swain will be taking over again from Ian Richardson after returning from maternity leave! Ian says, "I really enjoyed working with you all to improve your workplace and I know you can rely on Kristen’s support in the future".
