Calvary workers kept in the dark - literally

Your safety is important

I’m sure Calvary workers were as surprised as everyone else on Friday when they showed up to work at 7.30am only to find that the lights in the kitchen weren’t working. We’ve heard reports that some workers had to pour hot tea and coffee in the dark just to make sure they could get the breakfast service out.

Apparently Calvary are saying that they were running routine checks of the emergency lights – but it would have been nice for them to explain that to workers before keeping them in the dark for 90 minutes and expecting them to perform their tasks like normal.

Calvary has a legal obligation to provide a safe working environment for workers – and they shouldn’t just be an afterthought.

We will be contacting Calvary today to demand some answers and hold them to account for failing to provide you with a safe working environment.
