Issue raised with Premier.

Whilst the rules around compulsory mask wearing are now changing, we believe it’s important that we continue to raise issues in your workplace with the powers that be.

Before the new rules were announced, almost all employers provided their employees with face masks to be worn in the workplace, but not St Michaels. Instead, St Michaels asked workers to bring their own masks to work – it’s really poor form in disability services!

We’ve recently raised this issue with a committee of senior health officials and now with the Premier himself.

As the disability workers’ union, it is part of our job to regularly sit down with the relevant stakeholders to raise awareness of issues in the disability sector and give examples of how some employers are treating their workforce. So if you have any work-related issues, especially concerns about your health and safety, keep bringing them up to HACSU so we can continue to advocate for you.
