We're officially in dispute over the roster trial.

You may have been aware of a recent correspondence from Karen claiming that HACSU has supported an extension of the request roster trial. This is not true!

HACSU is a member-driven organisation, and we would never make any decision without consulting you all first. As a matter of fact, this topic was voted on unanimously in our recent meeting with members. Based on the result, we have officially lodged a dispute about the roster with THS.

Plus, we had already told THS that we dispute the roster and don’t support its extension before Karen sent this letter! What the letter says about HACSU’s position doesn’t make sense at all.

Like we discussed at our meeting, HACSU has written to Fiona Young that our members do not support extending the request roster trial. A further extension is unreasonable given the first has been so clearly unsuccessful, with THS failing to address the significant workplace health and safety concerns that have been continually raised.

We have asked THS to formally correct Karen’s letter and communicate it to all staff.

If they don’t want to fix the roster then we will need to be prepared for a fight. If that happens, we will have meetings to talk about what sort of action we can take. Please keep sending in information about what’s going on out there.

If you would like to talk about this, contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 or assist@hacsu.org.au
