At Friday’s first meeting your HACSU bargaining team outlined your log of claims and stood firm about why we want you to receive improved wages, sick leave provisions and other conditions.

Disappointingly, management once again only offered you a guaranteed 1.3% above the award rate, and they do want to remove the clause spelling out when future negotiations must begin and want to introduce new clauses around telephone duty, motor vehicle allowance, travel and uniforms.

Key elements of your claim include:

  • No reduction of current entitlements
  • 4% a year wage increases over 3 years
  • Increased personal leave
  • 13 weeks long service leave after 10 years
  • Increased sleep over allowance
  • Review of part time hours
  • Increased compassionate leave

Management did agree to:

  • Increase compassionate leave from 3 to 5 days
  • Increase family violence leave from 5 to 10 days
  • Changes in the Status Quo wording
  • Reply to your leave requests within 21 days
  • Add ‘significant other’ to compassionate leave definitions

Li-Ve Tasmania has said it will provide further feedback to our other claim items within 7 days.

The next meeting is on Thursday, April 2, and I’ll update you when we have more information. If you have any queries, please call HACSUassist on 1300 880 032.
