Last week the roster committee met for the first time since the declaration of the pandemic, and Ashley union delegates and health & safety reps have been involved in discussions from the beginning, which is so long ago most of us can’t remember exactly when it was.
The main issues we’ve been agitating around are consistency in leadership for the teams and more resources during the mid and later part of the day when they’re most needed.
No decisions have been made, nor is there an actual change being proposed, and Communities Tasmania are keen to get everybody to have their say which is a good start because no matter what happens, when it comes to rosters it’s impossible to keep everyone happy.
Communities will be conducting a further survey, so we encourage members and their colleagues to make sure they have their say.
A number of staff dismiss the concept of 12 hour shifts for a heap of different reasons, and that’s why we can only endorse a proposal supported by the majority of our members and we’ll continue to make that point as discussions continue.
