Yesterday we sat down with Anglicare to go through some of the finer details of the draft agreement and there are only a few things they now need to come back to us on.
Firstly, they need to get back to us about the pay offer - we said that if the agreement was in place by now members would be getting a wage increase that’s Hobart CPI rather than the Fair Work wage decision, and we asked them to consider paying the higher Hobart CPI rate.
Secondly, we’re waiting to hear back on some final edits to the minimum engagement clause and how it relates to best practice rostering.
Anglicare have also looked to introduce a new simplified pay scale that aligns better with the way the award is set out, and they’ve committed that no-one will be worse off as a result - once they’ve given us a final proposed draft we'll send it around to everyone.
It looks like there may be one more meeting to deal with any outstanding issues with the agreement likely going to vote soon.
Lastly, we contacted the CEO on behalf of members doing aged care home care packages to confirm whether Anglicare are applying for the retention payment the government is giving to those workers, and we can confirm that Anglicare are going to apply, so eligible employees should see this in July. We’ve been campaigning for a COVID allowance to be extended to disability workers too.
