Agreements, awards and Mt St Vincent

We recently heard back from Respect.

We'd requested that Mt St Vincent members keep some of the key conditions we’ve been talking about, and they are going to include our feedback in the application to Fair Work.

Respect explained their position and also stated that, “It is not in the interest of transferring MSV staff to remain on an agreement with frozen wages regardless of the fact it may have a more generous provision when reviewing one condition in isolation of others”.

While we were hoping to come to an agreement with Respect before the Fair Work deadline we also don’t want a situation where Mt St Vincent staff are on a ‘zombie’ agreement with award wages or, as could happen under the law, new staff going straight onto the award itself.
