Enough is enough!

After Able detailed their revenue issues dealing with COVID, we went to last week’s bargaining session willing to negotiate a shorter 12-month agreement in return for some tune ups to the current staff agreement, and then, once COVID pressures have passed, we'd sit down this time next year to bargain for members' bigger claims and negotiate a longer agreement.

Able, while initially positive, said that they didn't want to go through the hassle of putting it out to vote... (democracy can be such a drag)

The agreement has now been expired for 15 months - since 30 June 2019 -and we started discussions back in late November 2019 to get the ball rolling for a new deal for members.

The first negotiation meeting took place in March this year then everything was halted due to COVID restrictions.

We got Able back to the negotiation table in late August 2020, and that that round was also very underwhelming, as they didn't want to bargain with us for a new agreement at all due to financial pressure brought on by the pandemic.

We've proposed a fair and equitable way forward, but if we haven't heard from Able by the end of this week - Friday 25 September - we will be looking to take the decision out of their hands and escalate to Fair Work - enough is enough, after all.

Stay tuned for the next thrilling episode of negotiating with Able Australia.
